JEMAA EL-FNA PLACE


Located in the heart of the Medina, Place Jemaa-el-Fna is both the geographical center of Marrakech and the city's essential socio-cultural meeting place. It is dominated by the minaret of the "Kesba mosque", between the souk and the minaret of Koutoubia. Jemaa-el-Fna was not always the lively and warm place it is today. Indeed, its name in Arabic means "assembly of the dead", it was the place of strike where the criminals were executed and their heads nailed to the walls and exposed to the gaze of passers-by.





It is through there that you will reach the souks with its small alleys lined with various small stalls, public writers, marabouts, vendors of charms and even tooth pullers. Around the square, you will have access to various extraordinary services such as psychic consultations or magic recipes.

During the day, snake charmers, henna tattooists or owners of monkeys who offer photos with their animals rub shoulders with jugglers, musicians and acrobats.

They even organize amateur boxing matches. Do not hesitate to go up on one of the many terraces bordering the square to isolate yourself for a few moments from this teeming life, to taste gazelle horns accompanied by mint tea. One of the best times to admire the square from these ledges is really when the sun begins to set, and the stalls activate their stoves to prepare the evening meal.



The intoxicating smoke, the tamtams, and the lights of the lanterns that light up the gatehouses lend themselves very well to ritual photography.


At night, the place deserted by the acrobats is invaded by itinerant restaurants which offer delicious typical Moroccan dishes for very modest sums. In the evenings, you can enjoy traditional, unpretentious meals at rock-bottom prices. This square alone represents the ambiance, diversity and culture of Marrakech.

MENARA MARRAKECH

MENARA

Located a few kilometers from Marrakech, the Menara is the city's most important olive grove, extending over more than one hundred hectares. In the center of this garden, a basin has been built which collects water from the mountains in order to irrigate the crops. Next to this water point built in the 12th century stands a square Saadian palace with a triangular roof, a former romantic residence of the sultans during the 19th century.
The place is ideal for walks.
Cut off from the city and its hustle and bustle, visitors will appreciate coming to recharge their batteries in this large corner of greenery.

MAJORELLE GARDEN

MAJORELLE GARDEN



The most beautiful garden in the city! It will appeal to lovers of nature and birds of all kinds! The origin of this botanical garden goes to Jacques Majorelle, a famous French painter from the beginning of the 20th century.

By discovering Marrakech, the latter fell under the spell of Morocco, its bright colors, Berber architecture, civilization as well as its way of life.
He then took up residence in the "red city" and arranged his botanical garden where he housed exotic plants, ponds and ceramic decorations.

The botanical garden is considered by its creator as his main work, to which he devoted all his life. It opened its doors to the public in 1947.

Nowadays, the Majorelle gardens are the property of Pierre Berge and Yves Saint-Laurent who have acquired this bit of paradise to protect it and ensure its sustainability.

This oriental garden is a must-see to cut yourself off from the city and enjoy the cooing of birds and the quivering water of the fountains ...
